Temporary Suspension of Rights to Accounting of Disclosures of PHI |
Procedure |
Policy: Community Care will temporarily suspend an individual’s right to receive an accounting of disclosures to a health oversight agency or law enforcement for the time specified by that agency or official. The agency or official must inform Community Care, in writing or orally, that an accounting to the individual would be reasonably likely to impede the agency’s activities. The agency must specify the length of time for which the temporary suspension is required. If the request by the agency or official is made orally, Community Care will: document the statement, including the identity of the agency or official making the statement; limit the suspension to no longer than 30 days from the date of the oral request, unless a written statement is submitted during that time indicating a longer timeframe.
