Destruction of Client Records

Procedure:  .

1.     All inactive and closed records will be screened annually:

����� a.Residential Services:records that have had inactivity for over seven years beyond the 18th birthday of the former client will be identified for the purpose of destruction.

����������� b.Other Services:records five years past the last date of service will be identified for the purpose of destruction.

2.     The client database will be updated to include the information "Record Destroyed" and the date destroyed.

3.     The case records will then be destroyed by shredding or another mechanism permitted by regulation and law.

4.     Records associated with adoption may not be destroyed regardless of age or period of inactivity.
