3.ME.14 Medication Policy

Procedure:  .

1. Upon admission of a client to a Community Care program where medications will be administered by a Community Care employee or contractee, a Standing Order Form must be completed and authorized prior to administering any over the counter medications.

2. Standing Orders Forms should be completed by the client's primary care physician and should be used to identify possible adverse interactions with other medications if applicable.

3. Administration of over the counter medication must be documented on the appropriate program form by the employee or the contracted foster parent administering the medication along with any observed reactions. This form must be placed in the client's case record.
