Policy: It shall be the policy of Community Care that sexual harassment or other potential harassment of any client, employee, contractor, or customer of Community Care will not be tolerated. Community Care values state that employees and contractees should treat one another with dignity and respect in an active effort to maintain a positive, safe, and healthy work climate. All those who have contact with Community Care should expect an environment free from prohibited harassment. Community Care expects each individual to take responsibility for their own behavior and the impact of their behavior on those individuals who are served by and work at Community Care. It is in this spirit that the goal for Community Care is a harassment free work place where each client, provider, or customer is protected from any type of unlawful harassment. At Community Care no client, employee, contractee, or customer should experience any behavior in the workplace which is insulting, degrading, or exploitative. Sexual harassment is any unwanted attention, advance, or request of a sexual nature that occurs in the process of working which creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive working environment or whose effect unnecessarily interferes with an employee's work performance. While harassment affecting employment is most commonly thought of as sexual, it can also relate to an employees gender, sexual orientation, age, race, color, national origin, religion, disability, marital or veteran status. Community Care has a legal and ethical responsibility to ensure that all individuals under the auspices of the agency can work or reside in an environment which is free of sexual or other prohibited harassment.
