3.MEP.59 Referral to External Resource-CFSS Procedure

Policy:  Community Care prohibits making or accepting payment or other considerations in exchange for making or receiving referrals. The organization will not direct referrals to any private practice which employs personnel, consultants, or immediate family members of Community Care personnel or consultants. Exceptions may be made in cases where services best meet the needs of the client or the services are not provided elsewhere. The organization will not give preference to clients who are deemed easier or less costly for the agency to serve. The organization also prohibits giving preferential treatment to organization members, community partners, members of the governing body, advisory groups, personnel, and/or consultants who apply for and/or receive services through the organization. Community Care will consider the appropriateness of each referral prior to transfer to a former employee who has entered private practice.
